Jim is a seasoned, substance abuse and mental health counseling professional. He has a Master’s degree in Psychological Sciences from CCSU and is a State of Connecticut, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC). In addition to being a veteran addictions counselor and administrator; Jim has been an adjunct faculty member at CCSU for nearly 20 years, teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses related to drugs and behavior and alcohol and drug abuse counseling. Prior to joining the clinical staff at Pathways, Jim provided clinical and administrative supervision as Director of Outpatient Services at SCADD, Inc. in New London and Norwich; as Clinical Director for BHcare, Inc. in Branford; and as Director of the Intensive Rehabilitation Unit at Blue Hills Hospital, in Hartford.

Jim’s approach combines the clinical best practices of Person Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Twelve Step Facilitation in providing assistance and support to adults and adolescents struggling with substance abuse, co-occurring (substance abuse and mental health) disorders, codependency and ACOA issues. Jim is a skilled evaluator, ensuring that clients are provided individualized treatment and referral to other levels of treatment when necessary.
